ADULT BIBLE STUDY SMALL GROUPS

Greetings!  Read about the groups below.

  • Join Pastor Rick in this interactive learning lab on Christian Leadership. The first four sessions will be on The Way of Integrity: Living in Right Relationship with Self, Others, and God. The remaining sessions will focus on developing leadership to new heights: Helpful Communication, Holy Conversation, Healthy Conflict, Healing Candor, Humbled Confidence, and Hope-Filled Collaboration.

This group is recommended for anyone currently serving in a leadership role here at Central.  If you currently serve on any of our church committees or in a volunteer position within the church, this small group is for you.

  • Join Melissa Goldman for Invitation to Romans: A Short-Term DISCIPLE Bible Study and find out why exploring how people have interpreted Romans through the ages is a good lens to view the history of Christianity itself. Through this study you will compare what Paul writes in Romans to what theologians like Augustine, Luther and Calvin say in trying to understand Paul in their time. The goal of this study is to help gain an informed commitment to Paul's radical vision of God's relationship to both Christians and Jews and to their relationship to each other, thanks to the "love of God in Christ Jesus".

This is a great class for anyone desiring to learn more about their faith—no in-depth knowledge of the Bible is required to enjoy and benefit from this group.

  • A book & bible study utilizing Philip Yancey’s book by the same title. In this study, we’ll move beyond the stereotypical Jesus and on to new and different perspectives on the life of Christ and his work---his teaching, his miracles, his death and resurrection---and ultimately, who he was and why he came to earth.

In his book, Yancey looks at the radical words of this itinerant Jewish carpenter and asks whether we are taking him seriously enough in our own day and age. From the manger in Bethlehem to the cross in Jerusalem, Yancey presents a complex character who generates questions as well as answers; a disturbing and exhilarating Jesus who wants to radically transform your life and stretch your faith; and a Jesus who is brilliant, creative, challenging, fearless, compassionate, unpredictable, and ultimately satisfying.
