Director of Childcare Center
Central’s Children’s Center is seeking a self-motivated caring, Christian
individual with a love for children, a knowledge of developmentally
appropriate practices in early childhood education and communication
skills to lead Central’s Children’s Center (CCC) in the expansion of the
current half day program to include full day care for infants and
preschoolers.
Special Knowledge and Skills:
• Understanding of MS State Department Health childcare regulations.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, public relations,
computer and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to implement policy and procedures.
• Knowledge of best practices in early childhood education.
Responsibilities of Director:
• Maintain high quality childcare standards based on developmentally
appropriate childcare practices and MS early childhood standards.
• Ensure compliance of health, safety, and licensing regulations.
• Recruit and hire staff in consultation with the CCC Board.
• Train, and supervise all staff members assisting in planning appropriate
activities, providing professional growth opportunities, planning/
conducting/documenting staff meetings as well as evaluating staff.
• Coordinate registration and enrollment of children according to school
policy throughout the year but especially during spring pre-registration
period.
• Prepare annual budget for the center in coordination with the Church
Financial Secretary and operate the center within the budget
• Ensure that monthly fees are collected, facilitating payroll, approving/
tracking expenses
• Purchase equipment and supplies per budget.
• Oversee the maintenance of files according to MDHS requirements
including immunization forms, caregiver inservice hours, and personnel
files.• Oversee the planning of center calendar, supervise daily schedules,
observing classrooms and curriculum implementation.
• Communicate effectively with children, staff, families and CUMC staff.
• Promote a positive, caring climate for learning and serve as an advocate
for children.
• Any other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
Qualifications:
• Obtain and/or maintain child care director licensure required by the MS
Department of Health.
• A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a related field OR a
2 year Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in child
development technology according to the MS Department of Health
child care director qualifications.
• 3-5 years experience working with young children
• Computer literacy and ability to manage social media
• Obtain/maintain CPR/1st Aid Certification
Accountability:
The Director of Central’s Children’s Center will report to Central United
Methodist Church’s (CUMC) Director of Children and Family Ministries as
well as the Board of Central’s Children’s Center. The Director will report to
CUMC Administrative Council on an annual basis or upon request.
Hours:
The Director will work 40 hours per week Monday -Friday.
Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
